Since the baby boom of the 50’s where we saw an unparalleled growth of human existence, we have been fortunate enough to see the growth of so many industries, professions, careers and people.

Technology has advanced at a faster rate than ever and, in the past 18 months or so, we have seen the speed of which a vaccine has been developed, manufactured and administered to millions worldwide. Without the baby boom, would any of this have been possible?

The growth of new industries saw people being able to explore new careers and develop new products that had never existed before. The rise of computers, mobile phones, CGI, social media, influencers has been substantial and has been an amazing addition to the world. As we see more and more ‘specialisms’ being added to school curriculums, are we going to lose some of the traditional job roles we have known and still need?

I believe the growth of the these industries is about to go full circle and we are seeing more and more interest in these traditional subjects and that’s amazing! The need for people within traditional fields such as science is stretched more than ever. With the rise of films and TV shows, such as the Marvel Universe where we are seeing hero’s, villains, and stories originating from Scientists, I believe we are fortunate enough to see more and more of our children, the future, gain an interest in science and hopefully they’ll want to pursue a career within an amazing and continually developing industry, like science. I believe we are about to see a bigger science boom than we’ve seen before!

Here’s some of those heroes / villains and their backgrounds:

Peter Parker / Spiderman

A student at the Midtown School of Science and Technology who is as smart as they come. A young man who uses science to develop his webs, supports the fictional version of Elon Musk, Tony Stark, and does his best for the little man. Peter Parker comes from a family of scientists and depending on which universe, is all too familiar with Oscorp.

Green Goblin / Norman Oscorp

You know, he’s something of a scientist himself. Norman Osborn is the founder of Oscorp Technologies. After experimenting on himself with an unstable chemical, Norman developed an alternate, evil personality known as Green Goblin.

Bruce Banner / The Hulk

Exposed to heavy doses of gamma radiation, scientist Bruce Banner transforms into the mean, green rage machine called the Hulk. One of the smartest scientists who would go on to save the world.

Dr Otto Octavius

An experiment by passioned scientist Dr. Otto Octavius becomes unstable and fuses a set of artificial intelligent mechanical tentacles to Otto’s body and brain, leading him to become the powerful super villain Doctor Octopus.
